Space and Time— Hannah Duddy -
Playlist time! We asked punk af Hannah Duddy of It’s Alright, It’s Fine promotions to make us a playlist we could dig while isolating and she delivered. We asked her for a few words and she came out with a cri de coeur on behalf of the music community. Amen to that:
“Hey, I hope we’re all staying safe and staying home since the coronavirus has come sweeping across the globe.
All venues, promoters, touring companies and artists have had to close, cancel or postpone. The uncertainty is heartbreaking and will cause a huge impact on the industry.
Even record store day has moved from 18th April to the 20th June, this again could have a detrimental effect on shops to get customers through the doors, please try and show your local store some love when the day arrives.
There are many ways that we can help Bands/Artists through these trying times. Buy some merchandise! Buy tickets for gigs (have faith, if it reschedules you can still go)!. Buy physical releases, Purchase digital ( Bandcamp recently made sure all the profits went solely to the artists with the option of how much we as consumers want to pay)! Share links and profiles through social media!
Artists are still streaming live, straight into the comfort of your home creating that sense of community that music gives.
Also remember the venues who will suffer terribly through this tough time show. Support your local venue some have a go fund me set up. Help them give them.
It’s going to a tough few months but it’s a chance to reset time and remain positive and help each other out.
Keep and stay safe
